Farmers Market Associate

The Bangalore kitchen is a small family business started by two food loving people who want popularize the regional cuisine of Karnataka to Seattle. To make this vision come true, we have a stall at the Ballard farmers market with a simple fixed menu of dosas, and khara bath and kesari bath. We also have rotating specials to introduce different foods.

The Ballard farmers market is a fun and one of the biggest farmers markets in Seattle. It is also a year round market. As we move into a busy summer season we are looking for farmers market associates. 

Responsibilities can vary on a weekly basis depending on staffing and the various challenges a pop-up may be prone to. 

Ideal candidates would

  • Have a fun personality who likes to interact with colleagues and customers alike

  • Be a problem solver since every market day is unique with different challenges

  • Have some experience in the food industry

  • Need to be available from 8:30-2:30 on every Sunday 

Special skills that we are looking for include

  • ticket management : organize incoming tickets and convey orders to grill masters

  • Manage dosa delivery to waiting customers 

Bonus if you have experience with ticket management in another establishment.

  • A vehicle to take product and materials to markets and back. (4 door car will work)

  • Must have a current Food Handler Permit or the ability to obtain one.

  • Excellent face-to-face customer service and communication skills.

  • Able to explain the unique aspects of our products and company.

  • Listening to customers and reporting feedback to management.

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ensuring adherence to standards and food safety regulations at each market.

  • Effectively monitoring and managing inventory.

Must be personable, a food lover and a quick learner. We pay well, $18/hr. to start, like to have fun, but also work hard. You must be able to lift 30 lbs., stand on your feet for 6-8 hours and keep up with quick banter. You must also have a King County Food Worker card, but have a grace period to get it.
